How we help

We use a variety of individual therapies, including:
DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy), which is a form of CBT, or cognitive behavioral therapy, that seeks to identify and change negative thought patterns and create positive changes in behavior. We often use this form of therapy to treat people who have suicidal, self-destructive behaviors or borderline personality disorder. These people are high-risk individuals who can be difficult to treat and often have multiple mental disorders. Patients we’ve treated have experienced:

  • Reduced anger
  • Less frequent suicidal behaviors
  • Less severe suicidal behaviors
  • Shorter hospital stays
  • Reduced likelihood of dropping out of treatment
  • Improved social functioning

CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) is designed to help people understand the attitudes, thoughts, beliefs and feelings that influence their behaviors. We use CBT to treat a wide range of mental disorders such as phobias, addictions, depression and anxiety. We teach you more positive, beneficial ways of thinking and behaving.

Dual diagnostics help us identify co-occurring mental disorders. If you have any one of several mental disorders and a substance abuse problem, you will have a dual diagnosis.

The goal of these therapies is to help you or a member of your family cope with or overcome a behavioral problem that is negatively impacting your life and help you reach a happier, healthier place. Don’t live with a problem that can be solved here at LaSante Health Center.

Frequently Asked Questions About Telehealth Therapy

What is telehealth mental health therapy?

Telehealth therapy allows you to meet with a licensed therapist or psychiatric provider using secure video technology or telephone instead of visiting the clinic. Telehealth sessions meet the same professional standards as in-person therapy when clinically appropriate.

Is online therapy effective?

Yes. Research shows that telehealth therapy is effective for many conditions, including anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders, and stress management. Many patients across Brooklyn find virtual therapy to be just as beneficial as in-person care.

Do I have to use telehealth?

No. You have the right to receive in-person mental health services at any time. If you prefer to be seen at our Flatbush-area clinic, we will honor your request without disruption in care.

Who can use telehealth services?

We provide telehealth therapy and telepsychiatry for children, adolescents, and adults throughout Brooklyn. For minors, a parent or legal guardian must provide consent unless otherwise permitted by law.

What do I need for a telehealth appointment?

You will need a smartphone, tablet, or computer with internet access and a private space where you can speak comfortably. A quiet location helps protect confidentiality and allows you to focus on your session.

Is telehealth secure and confidential?

Yes. LaSante Health Center uses secure systems designed to protect your privacy. As with any technology, minor technical interruptions may occur, but we take steps to safeguard your information and encourage participation from a private setting.

What are the benefits of telehealth therapy in Brooklyn?

Telehealth reduces travel time across busy Brooklyn neighborhoods, eliminates transportation barriers, and makes it easier to attend appointments consistently. Many patients appreciate the flexibility of virtual therapy while still working with a trusted local provider.

Are there any disadvantages?

Some individuals prefer in-person interaction. Technology issues may occasionally interrupt a session. In certain clinical situations, your provider may recommend an in-person visit to ensure the safest and most effective care.

How do I know my therapist is licensed?

All mental health services at LaSante Health Center are provided by appropriately licensed professionals. You may request your provider’s license information from our staff or verify licensure through the New York State Office of the Professions.
